About Me

Seeking support can feel like a big step, particularly if you're used to putting the needs of others first or trying to manage everything on your own.

Many of the people I work with describe feeling stuck in cycles of worry, overthinking, self-doubt, or low mood. They often know what they would like to do differently, but find themselves caught in patterns that leave them feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, or disconnected from the life they want to be living.

I am Laura Holder, an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) with extensive experience working within NHS Talking Therapies services. I provide evidence-based therapy for adults experiencing depression and a range of anxiety difficulties, including Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Social Anxiety, Panic, Health Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Alongside these difficulties, many of my clients struggle with low self-esteem, self-criticism, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or relationship challenges. Whilst these experiences can look different from person to person, they often share a common theme: feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and practical. I believe therapy should be a space where you feel comfortable talking openly about what is going on, while also developing a deeper understanding of the factors that may be keeping your difficulties going. Together, we will work towards meaningful goals and identify strategies that support lasting change.

CBT is not about positive thinking or simply being told what to do. It is about understanding the relationship between your thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and experiences, and learning new ways of responding that help you move towards the life you want to lead.

Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, the impact of past experiences, or difficulties with confidence and self-worth, therapy can provide an opportunity to better understand yourself, break unhelpful patterns, and create meaningful change.

If you are considering therapy, I would be happy to arrange an initial consultation to discuss your needs and explore whether we may be a good fit to work together.
